The N.C. Arts Council is pleased to share the following opportunities for artists that have recently been submitted to us. Please contact the organization listed if you have any questions.
The Arts Council does not endorse or recommend any specific opportunities, but provides this list for information only. We encourage artists to research each opportunity thoroughly before applying. Artist opportunities may be submitted to jennifer.huggins@ncdcr.gov.

Visual Arts
Caldwell Arts Council
The 24th Annual Sculpture Celebration in Lenoir is accepting registrations for entries in this year's event to be held at JE Broyhill Park September 11–12. Registration includes dinner, breakfast, camping and a chance at $10,000 in prizes. A new award will be presented this year. The Caldwell County Public Art Award will go to one artist for a one–year outdoor installation in Caldwell County and a $2,000 stipend.

Sampson County Arts Council
The theme of the Anniversary Artists' Show is "Show Your Swine," scheduled August 25–October 2 at the Victor R. Small House in Clinton. Adult residents of N.C. are eligible to submit two original 2D works executed within the last three years with subject to include swine, pigs, ham, bacon, etc. Cash prizes and recognition awards will be given.

The Bascom, Highlands
The Bascom Center for Visual Arts is now accepting applications for the 2009 juried exhibition, "American Art Today" to be held October 24–December 18. Dr. Annette Blaugrund will serve as this year's juror, and $5,000 in prize money will be awarded.

Fiberarts Guild of Pittsburgh
A call for submissions that reflect a wide range of fiber art for a juried exhibition recognized among fiber artists worldwide as a benchmark that documents trends and innovations in the field.

Ice House Gallery, Washington, Va.
The 1st Annual Little Washington Miniatures Painting Exhibition will take place October 2–26 and is open to all U.S. residents 18 years old or older. All 2D media except photography, copier reproductions or computer generated images are acceptable. All artwork must be original. Cash prizes will be awarded. Entry fees apply.

The Raleigh Convention Center
The Raleigh Convention Center invites artists, independent curators and gallery owners to submit proposals for individual or multiple works for display in the Convention Center for 2009–2010. A premier meeting place, the 500,000 square–foot facility offers multiple opportunities for display of two–dimensional artists.

Cape Fear Studios, Fayetteville
Cape Fear Studios proudly announces the 15th Annual Nellie Allen Smith Juried Pottery Competition. This competition is open to all artists, 18 or older, in the United States. Prizes will be awarded in both functional and non–functional categories. The exhibition will be on display October 23–November 23 in the Cape Fear Studios Gallery in Fayetteville.

Connor Meigs Art Award
The Connor Meigs Art Award is a merit award for a newly graduated BFA recipient. Award includes a month–long solo exhibition in the Artloft of the historic Florence Mill in Omaha, NE, professional mentoring, artist's reception, lodging, and a $1,000 honorarium. The educational experience also includes studio visits with working artists.

Sundance Film Festival
The annual 10–day Sundance Film Festival presents the best new work in independent film from the U.S. and around the world for a global audience of filmmakers and film lovers assembled in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden, and Sundance, Utah. U.S. and international short films, feature films and documentaries are considered for the festival.
Early Submission Deadline: August 17, 2009

Carrboro Film Festival
Film submissions are now being accepted for the next Carrboro Film Festival to be held Sunday, November 22 from 2–7 p.m. Submission fees have been reduced this year and cash prizes are being awarded.
