General Arts Opportunities

ImaginOn, Charlotte
The Global Family Story Festival Series is a collaboration between the Public Library of Charlotte-Mecklenburg County and International House taking place at ImaginOn in the winter and spring 2010. The festival is open to performing groups as well as visual artists. Anchor events include story performers and visual artists in action.

Performing Artists

Community MusicWorks, Providence, R.I.
Community MusicWorks (CMW) announces a call for applications for its two-year Fellowship Program. From September 2010 through June 2012, CMW is seeking qualified violists and cellists to work 25 hours/week with a $15,000 stipend/year. CMW's Fellowship Program is an opportunity for young professional violinists, violists and cellists to spend two years performing, teaching and mentoring alongside the Providence String Quartet in underserved urban neighborhoods of Providence, R.I.

Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation, Baltimore, Md.
The National Endowment for the Arts and Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation announce the availability of guidelines for the 2009–2010 cycle of USArtists International (USAI), a program designed to support American performing artists at international festivals. USAI provides support for American dance, music and theatre artists who have been invited to participate in international festivals anywhere in the world outside of the U.S.

Gardner-Webb University, Boiling Springs
The Broad River Review, the literary magazine of Gardner-Webb University, welcomes submissions of original and unpublished fiction, poetry and creative nonfiction for its next annual issue to appear in May 2010. Interested writers may submit up to five poems (up to 10 pages), one short story (up to 4,000 words) or one nonfiction piece (up to 4,000 words). Writers may submit in multiple genres, but please do not submit multiple times in any particular genre. Writers may submit by regular mail or by email, although email is preferred. In a cover letter, please include a brief biographical entry, as well as titles and genres of all submitted works. If submitting by email, please attach Microsoft Word or Rich Text files only. Submissions may be sent to The Broad River Review, P.O. Box 7224, Gardner-Webb University, Boiling Springs, N.C., 28017 or emailed to the address below.

A $12,000 advance and publication by Graywolf Press will be awarded to the most promising and innovative literary nonfiction project by a writer not yet established in the genre. Robert Polito, director of the Graduate Writing Program at the New School, will serve as the judge. Electronic submissions will not be accepted.
