General Arts Opportunities
I-Park, East Haddam, Conn.
The 2010 Artists in Residence Program at The Artists' Enclave at I-Park is offered from May–November 2010 to visual/digital/environmental artists, music composers, landscape/garden designers, creative writers and architects at a 450-acre nature retreat in East Haddam, Conn. The typical residency session is four-weeks with a limited number of two-week and eight-week residencies offered.

U.S/Japan Creative Artists' Program
The Japan-U.S. Friendship Commission works cooperatively with the National Endowment for the Arts to sponsor The U.S./Japan Creative Artists' Program. The program provides support for up to five outstanding contemporary and traditional artists from the U.S. to spend a five-month residency in Japan to pursue their individual artistic goals. Eligible applicants are architects, choreographers, composers, creative writers, designers, media artists, playwrights, visual artists or solo theater artists who work with original material (including puppeteers, storytellers and performance artists). Multidisciplinary artists and artistic directors of theater or dance companies are also eligible.

Performing Artists
International Songwriting Competition
Internationally renowned for its high-caliber judges, ISC offers entrants a unique opportunity to have their songs heard by some of the most influential decision-makers in the industry. Entrants compete for more than $150,000 in cash and prizes. ISC winners benefit from extensive press and publicity, gaining exposure and recognition from an international music market of industry professionals and fans.

Great American Song Contest
Created by songwriters, this innovative contest offers a positive alternative to the hype and high cost of the "big-cash-prize" competitions. Great American Song Contest judges listen thoroughly and respectfully to each and every song. Then they provide a detailed evaluation. Each participating songwriter receives the judges' written evaluations upon completion of the contest.

The John Lennon Songwriting Contest
The John Lennon Songwriting Contest is open to both amateur and professional songwriters in any of the following categories: rock, country, jazz, pop, world, rhythm & blues, gospel/inspirational, hip-hop, Latin, electronic, folk and children's music. Prizes include cash, EMI music publishing contracts and Yamaha project studio equipment. One entry will be named "Song of the Year" and that winner will receive an additional $20,000.

Billboard Song Contest
Whether your style of music is pop, rock, country, jazz, gospel, Latin, blues or dance, the 14th Annual Billboard Song Contest could offer you unparalleled professional exposure among some of the music industry's most influential names. All songs receive a judging report. Our judging report will tell you how your song performed with tips on structure and content.

2010 Heafner/Williams Vocal Competition
The Heafner/Williams Vocal Competition seeks to identify and offer assistance to highly talented vocalists and to encourage the theatrical vocal arts. The competition is open to singers from ages 18–40 who are residents of or enrolled in school in North Carolina.

Literary Artists
Fine Arts Work Center, Provincetown, Mass.
The Fine Arts Work Center offers writers' fellowships, a unique residency for writers in the crucial early stages of their careers. Located in Provincetown, Mass., an area with a long history as an arts colony, the Work Center provides seven-month fellowships each year in the form of living/work space and a modest monthly stipend. Residencies run Oct. 1–May 1. Fellows have the opportunity to pursue their work independently in a diverse and supportive community.

University of Mississippi, University, Miss.
The department of English at the University of Mississippi is looking for forty-minute plenary papers and twenty-minute panel papers for their “Faulkner and Film” conference, July 18–22, 2010. Plenary papers consist of 5,000 words and will appear in the conference volume published by the University Press of Mississippi. Panel papers consist of approximately 2,500 words and will be considered by the conference program committee for possible expansion and inclusion in the published volume. For plenary papers, send three hard copies of the plenary paper following the University of Chicago Manual of Style guidelines. For panel papers, two-page abstracts must be submitted, preferably through e-mail attachment. All manuscripts and inquiries should be sent to Donald Kartiganer, Department of English, The University of Mississippi, University, MS 38677-1848.

Duke Raleigh Hospital, Raleigh
Duke Raleigh Hospital, Duke Raleigh Hospital Guild and Visual Art Exchange present Mosaic, a juried art exhibition. Mosaic will feature two-dimensional artwork that embraces diversity and inclusivity in today's world. First, second and third place winners will receive cash prizes. Artists may enter up to two pieces.

Southern Watercolor Society

The City of Greensboro
Greensboro Beautiful is seeking proposals from artists in Guilford County to construct and install an Alphabet Archway to be located at the Main Entrance to the Michel Family Children's Garden at the new Gateway Gardens at E. The City of Chattanooga, Tenn.
The Fourth Biennial Sculpture Exhibition is open to all professional artists over the age of 18. Works can be in any media, must be suitable for outdoor public space, and may be functional or non-functional, temporary in nature or permanent. Works will be on view March 2010–September 2011 and may be available for purchase. Up to seven works will be selected for this exhibition. Each artist who is selected for the exhibition will receive a $5,000 stipend.

The City of Vandalia, Ohio
The Public Art in Vandalia Program is sponsoring “Vandalia Chiseled,” a two-week long, five-participant open-air sculpture symposium. The symposium will take the form of a performing event—an open sculpture studio involving participation of both the artists and the public. A sculpture symposium is a public discussion on the topic of sculpture, where the participants make a presentation by creating the sculpture in front of an audience. The symposium will coincide with the City of Vandalia's fifty-year anniversary celebration.

The City of Wilmington, N.C.
The Dram Tree Sculpture Competition is open to professional artists in New Hanover, Pender, Onslow, Columbus and Brunswick counties. Artists are asked to create an original sculpture using durable materials that commemorates and celebrates the Dram Tree and complements the landscape and setting of the Wilmington Convention Center. North Ridge Country Club, Raleigh
The North Ridge Country Club Art Gala and 2010 Juried Art Competition and Sale will be held Sat., March 6, 2010, in Raleigh. In an effort to increase awareness of the arts within its membership, the North Ridge Country Club will establish a permanent art collection. A juried art competition, culminating in a special event to showcase the work of the selected artists, is scheduled. All works must be original; oil, acrylic, watercolor and pastels accepted.

Gibbes Museum of Art, Charleston, S.C.
The Elizabeth and Mallory Factor Prize for Southern Art honors an artist whose work contributes to a new understanding of the South. This cash prize of $10,000 is administered and presented by the Gibbes Museum of Art in Charleston.

Art in the Arbor, Louisville, Ky.
Art in the Arbor Art Festival is an annual event in Louisville, Ky., with more than 100 artist booths and up to 8,000 visitors. In its 42nd year, the festival will be held May 7–May 9, 2010. It is a juried festival.

Allentown Village Society, Buffalo, N.Y.
The 53rd Annual Allentown Outdoor Art Festival is open to artists 18 years and older in the following media: painting, watercolor, drawing, sculpture, photography, mixed media, jewelry, glass/acrylic, clay, creative crafts (hard) and creative crafts (soft). This juried show will award $19,900 in prizes. Show dates are June 12–13, 2010.

University of Alabama, Huntsville
The University of Alabama in Huntsville is directing a monumental project (The Dream Rocket Quilt) to 'wrap' the 37-story Saturn V Moon Rocket replica at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville with possibly one of the world's largest collaborative quilts ever constructed—over 32,000 square feet.

Filmmakers
Gen Art Film Festival, New York, N.Y.
Gen Art is currently accepting submissions for both short and feature film categories for the 2010 festival April 7–13 in New York. The Gen Art Film Festival only shows one short and one feature each night, and every premiere is followed by a legendary party at one of New York's hottest spots with VIP treatment for filmmakers in attendance. Shorts can be anywhere between 1 and 27 minutes, and features qualify at a minimum length of one hour.

Guadalajara International Film Festival, Mexico
The Guadalajara International Film Festival is the most important film festival in Latin America. Each year the festival showcases the most intelligent and daring international films, while playing host to some 110,000 film lovers, filmmakers, journalists and industry professionals. Submissions may be feature films, documentary and short films. The 2010 festival will take place March 12–20.

Tribeca Film Institute, New York, N.Y.
The Gucci Tribeca Documentary Fund provides finishing funds to feature-length documentaries which highlight and humanize issues of social importance from around the world. Funded films are driven by thoughtful and in depth storytelling, bolstered by a compelling visual approach. The author's name should not appear on the manuscript. Multiple submissions accepted.

Cine Las Americas International Film Festival
The 13th Cine Las Americas International Film Festival will take place April 21–29, 2010, in Austin, Tex. Cine Las Americas invites filmmakers, producers and distributors to participate by submitting contemporary films from North, Central, South America, the Caribbean and the Iberian Peninsula, as well as works made anywhere in the world by or about Latinos and/or indigenous groups of the Americas.

The Global Film Initiative, San Francisco, Calif.
The Global Film Initiative's production grants are awarded twice a year, in winter and summer, to filmmakers whose work exhibits artistic excellence, authentic self-representation and accomplished storytelling. Monies received through the Initiative's granting program are used to support completion of film production and to subsidize post-production costs, such as laboratory and sound mixing fees and access to modern editing systems.
