A+ Essentials

The A+ Essentials provide the framework for developing a creative culture that supports each school's unique needs. Over time, these eight foundational components transform a school's practice, priorities and identity, building an environment where teachers and students are excited to learn together.

A+ Network

The A+ network includes schools of all grade levels in rural, suburban, and urban communities across the state, many of which have been A+ since the program began in 1995. Schools in the network benefit from peer learning, sharing experiences, resources, and ideas. As a collective, the network shapes the programs, services, and trainings that are provided by A+ Schools of North Carolina. There are currently 64 A+ schools in 37 North Carolina counties.

A+ Practice

Nearly 25 years of learning from schools, assessing student and educator needs, adapting to state and national trends in education and listening to reflections and feedback from our network has created a strong and sustainable model of A+ learning and practice.

A+ Fellows

A+ Fellows are consultants who conduct professional development for A+ schools and partner organizations. Because A+ professional development is based on a strong practitioner model, the fellows are leaders in the arts and in education -- practicing classroom teachers, arts and special area teachers, administrators, higher education faculty members, artists, and writers. As a group, the fellows represent the varied perspectives of the school community and the community at large.
