A+ Schools of North Carolina is a whole-school transformation model that views the arts as fundamental to teaching and learning. Our schools develop a creative culture in which the state's mandated curriculum is taught through collaboration and multi-discipline integration, with the arts continuously woven into every child's learning experience. Our “Connect” page offers a variety of resources for arts-based teaching and learning.
Arts Education at NC DPI
This site is intended for local leaders to assist with implementation of the North Carolina Arts Education Essential Standards. It includes Summer Institute presentations, templates, materials, and resources, as well as other important information specifically related to the Essential Standards.
North Carolina Department of Public Instruction
This site is a great resource for information about arts education in North Carolina schools. Provides a variety of resources and services for K-12 educators.
The John F. Kennedy Center Education Department’s Arts Edge
The Kennedy Center’s free digital resource for teaching and learning in, through, and about the arts. The web site features current arts education news, professional resources for teachers and others, and an annotated catalog of other related web sites.
The John F. Kennedy Center VSA Resources for Educators and Parents
Information on ways to connect the arts, education and disabilities.
Lincoln Center Institute for the Arts in Education
Features information on professional development opportunities for educators on exploring the arts with their students through an experiential approach that emphasizes learning across the curriculum.
National Endowment for the Arts
Includes descriptions of current and former arts education publications available on-line and through other resources, an Arts Learning Resource Center, a list of cultural funding opportunities, and guidelines and application forms for Arts Learning grants for which schools and non-profit organizations can apply.
National Assembly of State Arts Agencies
Provides research and analysis of national and statewide issues of importance to arts education.
President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities
An advisory committee to the White House on cultural issues. Addresses policy questions in the arts and humanities, to initiate and support key programs in those disciplines and to recognize excellence in the field. Its core areas of focus are arts and humanities education, cultural exchange, and creative economy.
Southeast Center for Arts Integration
Offers innovative professional development in arts education and arts integration to enhance teaching and deepen learning in preK-12 classrooms.

Promotes student achievement and preparation for global competitiveness by fostering educational excellence and ensuring equal access. Includes information on federal financial aid for education, research data on America’s schools, and key educational issues
Wolf Trap Institute for Early Learning through the Arts
Features information on the arts in education services that the Institute provides for children ages 3-5, their teachers and families through drama, music and movement. It also contains information on pre-school artist residencies that can be booked through them. Schools and non-profit organizations can seek funding for these programs through the North Carolina Arts Council.
